Baseer Muhammad will be held without bail in the fatal Austin, Chicago shooting of Tracey Showers, the police department said.
With the arrest, Showers' family said they feel a bit of relief.
"It's been a hard, long, difficult time for me," said Showers' husband, Pernell Showers. "She was the light of this family and she was someone that we all looked to for inspiration -- who inspired us all." Prosecutors said late last month on Le Moyne, near Central on the city's West Side, Baseer Muhammad fired shots from a car then sped away.
