Man arrested after hours-long standoff in Chula Vista [Breaking]
A 44-year-old man wanted on a felony warrant was arrested early Wednesday after an hours-long standoff in Chula Vista, police said.
Police went to a condominium on Rancho Drive near Regency Way about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday to serve a no-bail warrant for the man, who was accused of being armed while possessing drugs, Chula Vista police Sgt. Anthony Molina said. The man barricaded himself in the home, and a SWAT team was called, Molina said. After evacuating nearby residences, police deployed tear gas into the condo.Molina said the SWAT team used a drone to help navigate the home and found the man hiding upstairs. He was arrested shortly after midnight.
The man was booked into jail several hours later on suspicion of possessing drugs while armed and is scheduled to be arraigned in Chula Vista Superior Court on Friday, according to jail records.
