A man accused of stabbing a woman in the chest on a METRO light rail was arrested at a Houston mental health clinic, with his defense attorney flagging his history of mental health Friday to a judge.

He fled at the MacGregor Park station as the train traveled toward southeast Houston, leaving Jarrell on the train until the Palm Center stop. A witness remained with her and later identified Washington as her assailant to police at the hospital. That mental health history coincided with what Assistant District Attorney Chris Handley described as allegations of violence aimed at strangers and downtown Houston bank workers, many of whom were women. He has stabbed another person on the light rail in the past, the prosecutor said.
