For Star subscribers: After years of discussion, the property that was once home to a Tucson monastery now has 292 apartments and nearly all of them are leased.
Gabriela Rico After being the subject of political fights over redevelopment plans — then serving a brief stint as a refuge for migrants — the Benedictine apartment complex is now home to hundreds of new residents.
The mix of tenants include university faculty, retirees, graduate students and folks from the neighboring Miramonte and Sam Hughes neighborhoods who sold their homes in the hot market.The buildings have concrete walls, floors and ceilings. It was used for that purpose for about 10 months and at the beginning of 2020, ground was broken for the apartments.The gym, F45 Training, is in the retail strip along Country Club Road and will be joined this fall by Yellow Brick Coffee.
