The majority of Boeing 737 MAX planes now grounded by regulators and airlines

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency said Tuesday that it was temporarily suspending flights of Boeing's bestselling plane as investigators work to determine the cause of theof an Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX 8 shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa that killed all 157 on board. The EU regulator's move comes after national aviation authorities in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France and Turkey earlier in the day halted operations of the plane in their airspace.
Chinese and Indonesian aviation authorities grounded their nation's fleets Monday and Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and India followed suit the next day. Among the airlines independently deciding to ground their planes amid passenger unease were the Latin American carriers Aeromexico, Aerolineas Argentinas and Brazil's GOL.
