A Montgomery County grand jury indicted on Tuesday the owner of three pit bulls that critically injured a Magnolia woman last June.

Angela Nicole Leach, 34, faces a charge of third-degree felony attack by a dog causing serious bodily injury. Leach was arrested Nov. 14 and is being held on a $5,000 bail at the Montgomery County Jail.

The second owner of the dogs, Mitchell Weemes, was killed July 15 in an unrelated shooting following an argument at a Magnolia area gas station.Criminal charges expected after 17-mile spill left gallons of motor oil on Montgomery County roads According to court documents, just after 10:30 p.m. June 20, Rebecca Hatcher was walking near her home in the 37000 block of Pine Bank in the Hazy Hollow subdivision when the dogs dragged her into a ditch and mauled her.

A neighbor heard Hatcher's screams and drove to the ditch where she saw the dogs attacking Hatcher. The neighbor called for help and tried to scare the dogs away by honking her car horn. Hatcher was taken to Memorial Hermann-The Woodlands Hospital where she underwent numerous surgeries for her injuries. Precinct 2 Deputy Constable Thomas Wolff said Hatcher is still recovering from the attack.The dogs were euthanized per an order from Montgomery County Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Judge Matt Masden.
