Phivolcs said the quake struck 8 kilometers southwest of Tandag City, Surigao del Sur around 12:47 p.m.Phivolcs’ instruments also recorded the tremor at Intensity I in Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte and Surigao City in Surigao del Norte. Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
