French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics may be relocated to the Stade de France if security threats are deemed too high. France is on high alert ahead of the Olympics and Paralympics, which are expected to attract millions of visitors. Concerns are particularly high for the grand opening ceremony, where athletes will be transported on boats along the River Seine for a 6-kilometer journey, with large crowds of spectators on the riverbanks.
PARÍS — El presidente de Francia, Emmanuel Macron , dijo el lunes que la ceremonia de apertura de los Juegos Olímpicos de París planeada en el río Sena podría trasladarse al Estadio de Francia si la amenaza de seguridad se considera demasiado alta. Francia está bajo un alto nivel de alerta antes de los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de París, que se espera reúnan a millones de visitantes al país.
Pero cuestiones logísticas y de seguridad han hecho que el gobierno haya ido rebajando esas aspiraciones. El número total de espectadores en vivo se redujo este año a unos 300.000. El gobierno francés también decidió que los turistas no tendrían acceso gratuito para ver la ceremonia de apertura por motivos de seguridad. El acceso gratuito será sólo por invitación. Macron insistió en que por ahora los planes de la ceremonia se mantienen.
