72-year-old Huu Can Tran is suspected of opening fire at a dance studio in Monterey Park, killing 10 people and injuring 10 more as the city’s large Asian American community was celebrating Lunar New Year weekend.
Tran was a divorced dance instructor at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio, Congresswoman Judy Chu confirmed. She raised questions on whether jealousy could have been part of Tran's motive.
"I heard about the [ex] wife want to be here to do the service of the ceremony and the [ex] husband don't want him to come. Did this [ex] husband come here and [do] this shooting, [to] the people?" Chang, who is friends with the owners of the Star Ballroom Dance Studio, said.Huu Can Tran is suspected to have killed 10 at Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park on Saturday night.
