Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko says it is “absolutely possible” his forces helped migrants and refugees cross into the EU, while denying they were invited to the country
The West has accused Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko of using the migrants and refugees as pawns to destabilise the EU in retaliation for its sanctions on his authoritarian regime.
"I think that's absolutely possible. We're Slavs. We have hearts. Our troops know the migrants are going to Germany," Lukashenko told the BBC in an interview on Friday. The West has accused Belarus of artificially creating the crisis by bringing in would-be migrants from abroad and taking them to the border with promises of an easy crossing into the European Union.
