A low pressure area (LPA) has been spotted off Mindanao but still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
'The LPA has the chance to develop into a tropical depression in the next two to four days as a tropical depression,' weather specialist Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.In the meantime, Estareja said the southwesterly surface windflow will affect most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
This weather system -- wind coming from the southwest -- and localized thunderstorms are bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.Estareja said the LPA was estimated some 2, 200 kilometers east of Mindanao .'Based on Pagasa's analysis, there is a favorable condition that this LPA may develop into a tropical depression, although a weak one, over the next two to four days,' he said.
