The low pressure area (LPA) spotted off east of Mindanao is likely to enter the country late Sunday and may escalate into a tropical storm later in the week, the weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday the weather disturbance will not directly affect the country in the next three days.'But the crucial part is that by Thursday or Friday, the LPA may escalate into a tropical depression and will cross east of Mindanao and Visayas west-northwest then traverse Bicol Region before it crosses Central and Northern Luzon,' weather forecaster Benison Estareja said.
The weather bureau said the trough of the LPA is affecting Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands where cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are likely.Pagasa said the extension of the LPA and localized thunderstorms are affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
