A low pressure area being monitored inside the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration .

“This low pressure area is embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone …we expect continuous rains to affect low-lying and flood-prone areas,” said DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Rhea Torres.The LPA was last estimated at 155 km east southeast of Tagum City, Davao del Norte. In a weather advisory issued at 5 a.m., the state weather bureau indicated that moderate to heavy rains today will affect the areas of Quezon, Camarines Norte, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.

The Bicol region and Quezon can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the LPA while shear line brings cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as well for the rest of Visayas and Mindanao. The ITCZ will directly affect Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora while the Northeast Monsoon brings cloudy skies with rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
