Nearly 60,000 people convicted of cannabis-related crimes in Los Angeles County will have their charges expunged

On Monday, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that his office identified 58,000 marijuana convictions to be dismissed to address the “injustices of drug laws,” the D.A.’s office said. The Social Impact Center, a California-based nonprofit that has a program focused on helping people expunge and seal prior marijuana convictions, helped the D.A.’s office identify which cases were eligible for dismissal.
