The decision to hit the pause button, according to the company statement, is that “audiences and donations have not returned to 2019 levels.” For now, in addition to trying to raise $2.5 million to address budget shortfalls, Lookingglass is planning to “re-envision and renovate the outer lobby space in the Water Tower Water Works building in partnership with the Chicago Public Library” in order to create a new community gathering space.
