Five devotees will be nailed to the cross at the traditional rites in Barangay San Pedro Cutud in San Fernando, Pampanga.
According to the report on "24 Oras" of GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon's CJ Torrida, among those who will be nailed is Ruben Enaje, 62.
Enaje is one of those who have participated in the crucifixion rites the longest. This year will probably be the last time he will be nailed to a cross, one that he made. “Ang penitence must always be two-fold, to increase our gratitude to God, to make us aware that many times we failed," said Fr. Benjamin Espiritu III, parochial vicar of the Immaculate Conception Parish.
"So, if it helps you to be more grateful for god's many graces if it helps you to be more sorry for your sins, then go do it," he added.
