Texas’ offense will grow and evolve as Quinn Ewers does. But in his first career start, Ewers sure seemed to have a special connection brewing with sophomore tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders, also making his first career start. “I saw the replay and I was like, ‘Oh my God,’” Sanders said of that throw and catch. “That was a dime.”The fifth-year senior flew through a crease in ULM’s punt protection to deny the attempt and block the ball into the turf. Teammate Keilan Robinson plucked it off the field and darted into the end zone from 12 yards out to give Texas a 7-0 lead with more than 13 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Sorrell has been touted as a breakout candidate all offseason. He made good on that hype this week, finishing with six tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in his first career start.
