David Carrick, 48, has admitted to raping and sexually assaulting a dozen women over 17 years while serving as one of London's Metropolitan Police officers.
David Carrick, 48, pleaded guilty to 49 offenses, including some 20 counts of rape as well as assault, attempted rape and false imprisonment.
London's Metropolitan Police apologized to victims for not spotting Carrick's pattern of abusive behavior sooner. "He has devastated women’s lives," she said."He has had a devastating impact on the trust and confidence of women and girls that we are working so hard to earn. He has devastated colleagues.Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the lengthy time it took to recognize the crimes raise serious questions about how Carrick was able to abuse his position as a police officer for so long.
