A new clip from The Little Mermaid 2023 shows off the iconic scene where Ursula offers Ariel a fateful deal. The live-action film is a remake of the 1989 Disney animated classic of the same name, which is in turn adapted from the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. Halle Bailey stars as Ariel, a young mermaid whose desire to explore the human world leads her to trade her voice to the sea witch Ursula for a pair of legs.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The scene sees Ursula laying out the terms of the deal she is about to strike with young Ariel, in which she will need to receive a kiss from Prince Eric within three days or else she will revert to a mermaid and fall into Ursula's clutches. McCarthy's performance is incredibly menacing as Ursula uses her tentacles to physically ensnare Ariel, reflecting the dubious nature of her deal.
