Lily, formerly known as Callalily, has released a statement on their name change following Kean Cipriano’s disengagement from the band.
, the group now composed of Nathan Reyes, Aaron Ricafrente, Lem Belaro, and Alden Acosta said that they “regret the statements made” by their former band member.from the band to pursue projects with more creative freedom and to focus on O/C Records.
“It is unfortunate that he no longer felt happy making music with the rest of us,” said Lily’s statement.“The band members have always felt a sense of ownership over the name because of the fact that each of us represents the band and its music. And with the band running for almost 17 years, the Callalily brand that is known today was built not just by one person but by a collective whole,” Lily said.
“Nevertheless, we respect the decision of Kean to leave and will address his claims in the proper forum.” Despite the circumstances, Lily remains passionate about creating music and “will continue to produce and perform world-class Pinoy music and fulfill [their] shared mission of amplifying the same.”Meanwhile, the band will also be releasing their first single under their new name on July 7, titled “Sinayang” in collaboration with Rachel Gabreza.
