Actor Liam Hemsworth recently reacted to his casting as Geralt in The Witcher season 4. The fantasy-adventure show has been one of the biggest hits for the streaming giant Netflix. Based on a series of books of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and partially inspired by the video game franchise, The Witcher centers on the adventures of the impassive monster-hunting anti-hero Geralt of Rivia .
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Although fans were initially wary regarding Cavill's casting as Geralt, following the release of season 1, he has received much acclaim for his captivating performance. However, Cavill is leaving The Witcher following season 3 and will not be reprising the role in season 4. In a recent announcement by the actor, The Hunger Games star, Liam Hemsworth, was revealed as Cavill's replacement as Geralt.
How Will The Witcher Season 3 Set Up Hemsworth's Recasting Fans are understandably upset with the news that Cavill is leaving the popular show. Since the actor is recommitting to his role as Superman in the DCEU, he will unlikely have much time to fit in an entire season of The Witcher in his schedule.
Although the casting change will be jarring to longtime fans of The Witcher, similar to Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2 or Katie Holmes being replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight, audiences will hopefully accept the new actor over time. Hemsworth has proven himself in action-heavy roles such as The Expendables 2 and Independence Day: Resurgence, showing that he is more than capable in big-budget and physically-demanding productions.
