Re: “City seeks to spread its wings — Leaders plan on bond vote to make airport commercial alternative to DFW, Love,” Oct. 13 news story.story on the proposed McKinney airport expansion correctly points out that the public defeated a bond in 2015. I believe our City Council and chamber of commerce contractors are alone in promoting major growth of the airport.

I am against any further airport expansion in McKinney and would much prefer to extend the DART rail system north from Plano. I think express rail service from McKinney to Dallas, to the major airports and along U.S. 380 would serve far more people and reduce the worsening car traffic gridlock.Something keeps haunting me about the war in Ukraine. We are sending them missiles, but obviously many Russian missiles are still causing death and destruction.

Virtual learning, TASA’s end goal, is an oxymoron. Its only success has been in data-mining students, nudging them to a specific behavioral outcome and tracking and sorting them for the workforce. I experienced 12% inflation 50 years ago. I was 35 years old, had a new house with a 4% mortgage and a good job at Texas Instruments. I weathered inflation just fine.

Through high minimum wage policies and wage increases to workers in large corporations and unions, the price increases we see today tend to become locked in permanently. Only those with specialized skills, in-demand technical degrees, successful entrepreneurs and those with above average investable wealth come out of inflationary periods unscathed.Re: “Reckless in Dallas,” by Lynne Harmon, Monday Letters.
