Readers comment on two stories about DEI; appreciate the stories on toll roads; wish Gov. Abbott would come around on gun safety; dislike Facebook; and agree with checking on the payout for Broadnax.
I was a little shocked that your paper would take a story about drivers who don’t pay their toll road bills and somehow spin it into a racial problem. Since the whole process of locating and charging these nonpayers is done remotely, race has absolutely nothing to do with it.The toll road investigative report was very informative and unsettling. It clearly showed the bad deal toll roads are for North Texas.
North Texas Tollway Authority TTA executive director James Hofmann said a significant impact of toll roads is increased property values nearby. My question is, wouldn’t a freeway produce the same economic impact?Your story did not include the issue of suburban sprawl toll roads created. Toll road authorities just see toll roads as solutions to traffic, not better urban planning.
