“Salt Lake City isn’t some sleepy hamlet in rural Utah, it’s a major city if you haven’t heard. Quit trying to fix something that isn’t broken,” writes Jeff in Salt Lake City.

I’m a native of Salt Lake City and own a residence on the corner of 5th Avenue and F Street. I’ve lived in the Avenues since 2006. I would like to know who decided to put in the new one lane traffic pattern each way on South Temple? I haven’t seen traffic counters stretched across the road, nor received a mailer or an email for public input as to this horrendous decision.

I’m sure you’re quite aware of how many people use South Temple coming and going to the city, U. of U., and the Huntsman and University hospitals? Now we have backed up traffic, cars speeding around the Avenues and surrounding streets, unnecessary idling at intersections adding to the terrible air quality, and increased road rage. Why was this necessary? More bike lanes? This city has enough bike lanes on all the other streets — namely 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue, 11th Avenue, 300 South, etc.
