MANILA, Philippines – The Letran Knights further strengthened their NCAA title three-peat bid with a 74-58 blowout of the also-ran Mapua Cardinals at the Season 98 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on Saturday, November 19.
Veteran enforcer Louie Sangalang led the easy win with 21 points on a near-perfect 9-of-10 clip with 5 rebounds, while lead guard Fran Yu scattered 10 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. Meanwhile, the San Beda Red Lions followed up their rivals with a 70-61 win over the JRU Heavy Bombers to stay in the hunt for a twice-to-beat berth.
Agem Miranda led all scorers in the loss with 19 points, 5 boards, 3 dimes, and 3 steals as JRU skidded down to a 6-11 slate.
