Ten years after his death, Sean Edwards still might be responsible for the best Nürburgring video ever.
Ten years ago today, the racing world lost promising young talent Sean Edwards at just 26. He had already collected a Nürburgring 24 win in 2013 and two wins in the 24 Hours of Dubai, but his unique talents are best illustrated by a single iconic lap. Edwards rolled off on the fourth row of the 2011 Porsche Carrera World Cup at the full-length Nürburgring 24 hour layout, the version of the track that includes both the iconic Nordschleife and the more modern GP circuit.
Over the next handful of corners on the GP circuit, Edwards moved up to fourth on track. As he turns onto the Nordschleife, he begins hunting down the podium on a particularly treacherous day at on world's most famous strip of racing pavement. While he never catches the leaders, the next nine minutes of near-misses and massive saves illustrate the challenge of the 'Ring like no flying lap in a road car ever could.
