The prices of roasted pig or lechon have gone up in La Loma, Quezon City on Sunday, as more orders come in for holiday parties.
The smallest lechon weighing 8 kilos is being sold for P8,000, while the largest one at 20 kilos goes for P20,000, up by P2,000 from the previous P18,000, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Super Radyo dzBB.
A vendor said the prices of lechon are expected to still go up by P1,000 to P5,000 depending on the weight as the Christmas and New Year holidays draw near. The supply of hogs comes from the provinces since there are no backyard raisers in the city. The cost of transportation as well as travel permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry contribute to the costing of the lechon, vendors said.
