1.3 million viewers tuned into HBO's explosive Michael Jackson documentary,"Leaving Neverland," during its two-hour premiere on Sunday, according to Nielsen.
It's the third-most-watched documentary premiere for HBO in the last decade, behind"Going Clear" and"Bright Lights," according to The Wrap.Part one of HBO's and director Dan Reed's four-hour documentary, which details claims of child sexual abuse against Michael Jackson, was viewed by 1.3 million people during its premiere on Sunday, according to Nielsen .
Part two of"Leaving Neverland" aired on Monday, and Nielsen will release its viewership numbers on Tuesday. As The Wrap noted, its the third-most-watched documentary premiere for HBO in a decade. It follows 2015's Scientology doc,"Going Clear," with 1.7 million viewers, and 2016's Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds doc,"Bright Lights," with 1.6 million viewers. But including all on-demand and digital platforms,"Leaving Neverland" was viewed by 1.7 million people.
