Here's a look at all of Arizona's governors, starting with Gov. George W.P. Hunt in 1911.

Republican Doug Ducey was sworn in on Jan. 5, 2015, shortly after noon, becoming the state's 23rd governor.

A hunting and fishing enthusiast, he also set up a state fish and game department while in office. In the summer of 1943, he set up a series of fishing trips, starting at his favorite spot in Greer, and working his way around the state. He died of a heart attack while fishing at Mormon Lake, just south of Flagstaff, on June 25,1943. On Dec. 22, 1986, Benjamin Baker Moeur was born in Decherd, Tenn.

From 1903 to 1905 he was a delegate to the U.S. Congress, and in 1910, he served as a member of the Arizona Constitutional Convention. Osborn was also elected three times as Arizona's secretary of state from 1912 to 1919. After that, he ran for governor in 1924 and 1938, losing both times, before finally being elected in 1940.

He and his campaign manager, Barry Goldwater, cause major upset in getting Pyle elected as governor in 1950 as a Republican politician in a state which was, at the time, long dominated by Democrats. After being elected in 1952, his efforts led to what would be known as the Raid on Short Creek in 1953, during which over a hundred law-enforcement officers descended on a Mormon compound community near Colorado City, Ariz.

Once elected, Fannin reached out to the Democrats, who held nearly all the state Senate seats, and to the Democrats and Republicans of the state House. With bipartisan support, he paved the path toward statewide initiatives for education, including creating a community college system.Samuel Pearson Goddard Jr. was born on Aug. 8, 1919, in Clayton, Mo.

Williams served four years as mayor of Phoenix in the 1950s, growing the city from 17 to 187 square miles. He served as secretary of state for nearly 29 years before being elected governor on Oct. 20, 1977, the record for the most time in the office. Despite this, he served the shortest time as governor — five months after his election, he died in office of a heart attack in his Phoenix home on March 4, 1978.Bruce Edward Babbitt was born on June 27, 1938, in Flagstaff. After graduating from University of Notre Dame, he received his law degree from Harvard Law School.

After his Senate runs, he ran for governor four times, in 1964, 1974, 1978 and 1982. It wasn't until his fifth run in 1986 that he was elected governor, with a platform based on the elimination of income taxes and the bolstering of state power. Mecham, who served as a lay bishop for the Mormon church, was elected in part due to support from Mormon voters.as"a short, wiry bulldog of a man with a direct gaze, a blunt style and deep suspicions about government and its elected elite.
