The two-day celebration, which began Des Plaines in the late 2000s, is the largest gathering in the country of Roman Catholic pilgrims honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe. The 800-pound replica of the original shrine, brought to the city in 1996, is the first of kind placed outside of Mexico.
