The fire started around 6 a.m. Tuesday in the new development that’s being built on the southwest corner of I-30 and FM 551 in Fate. The flames appeared to originate from the middle of one apartment structure and quickly spread to some others that were nearly complete. At least one structure has reportedly already collapsed.
Video from traffic cameras showed firefighters using water cannons to try to put out the towering flames and protect neighboring buildings.
