The owner of a popular Los Angeles seafood restaurant plans to open a fourth location at the site where the iconic Ruby's Diner once stood on the Huntington Beach Pier.
Many were shocked in 2021 when Ruby's had to shut down after the owner of the chain filed for bankruptcy."I was kinda shocked to hear, 'Oh my gosh, Ruby's is going.' It's one of the biggest parts, in my eyes, of Huntington Beach," Powerson said.The new restaurant was a dream more than 15 years in the making, according to the owner and founder of Broad Street Oyster Company, Christopher Tompkins.
In 2019, that turned into the first permanent location in Malibu, hen came Santa Barbara, and then Grand Central Market."I can't think of a more fitting location for a seafood concept and for Broad Street Oyster Company," Tompkins said.He hopes to welcome customers to a casual and family-friendly atmosphere in Orange County by July.
Marianna May who was was visiting the area for the Association of Volleyball Professionals Huntington Beach Open said she'd enjoy seafood on the pier.

Man indicted in theft of 'Wizard of Oz' ruby slippers worn by Judy GarlandA federal grand jury has indicted a man who is suspected of stealing a pair of famous ruby red slippers worn by Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Federal prosecutors said Terry Martin was indicted Tuesday on one count of theft of major artwork. The Indictment alleges that in 2005, Martin stole an authentic pair of ruby slippers. The slippers were worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz.” They were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The FBI recovered the slippers in 2018. The pair is one of four remaining pairs of red slippers Garland wore in the movie. Online records do not list an attorney for Martin.
