Fort Bend County Judge KP George on Thursday disputed information from an audit of a covid vaccination outreach contract, challenging the reported amount of the agreement with two Houston-based political consultants with Democratic ties.

George declined comment with the Chronicle when the audit was made public on Oct. 14. George has not responded to requests for comment regarding the radio interview. Sturdivant on Thursday said the contract is still active, though payment has been paused until Next Wave Strategies returns the $25,000 the county is requesting.
“Every aspect of outside contracts and things of that nature, we always audit so that we make sure an outside source is telling us we are doing the best," he said,"and also we are doing everything possible to make sure our taxpayer dollars are well spent.”
