On fourth-and-1, Yemi Adeleke picked up 23 yards for a first down and on the next play Awe found Smith for a 21-yard score to give Klein Cain its first lead of the game, 25-21, with 1:44 left in the game. Ray Chatham picked off Parks on the next drive to seal the game. Both teams turned it over on downs then punted the next couple of drives before Parks spun away from trouble and found a wide-open Castillo for the 13-yard touchdown to make it 14-0 with 10:29 left in the second quarter.
First downs by Parks and Ty Stamey plus a personal foul advanced the Tigers to the Klein Cain 10-yard line with 10 seconds left. The Tigers could have gone for the field goal. Instead, Parks rolled to the left side on second-and-10 and threw an incomplete pass in the end zone to keep it a two-point game at halftime.
