The Kings will air 63 times on Bally Sports West and six times on KCAL-TV (Channel 9), with the rest of the games split among national broadcast rights-holders
After months of uncertainty, the Kings’ telecasts will be back on Bally Sports as the team confirmed that they reached a new agreement with the network Thursday.
Additionally, the 69 local broadcasts will be available via Bally’s subscription streaming platform for fans who do not have access to those channels. Returning in some capacity to KCAL-TV represented a sort of odyssey for the Kings, whose games aired on the station from the franchise’s inception in 1967 until 1985, and then again briefly in late ’90s.
Contentious, tangled legal disputes involving Bally Sports, its parent company Sinclair Inc. and various sports entertainment entities cast a shadow over many local TV broadcasts of teams. Notably, Major League Baseball pushed for the right to terminate Bally broadcast agreements for its franchises, such as the San Diego Padres, something the NHL has also mentioned in the course of legal proceedings.
Amid the broader upheaval, the Kings made their own particular adjustments, consolidating their telecast and radio broadcast teams to create a simulcast that will feature Jim Fox, Nick Nickson, Darryl Evans and Carrlyn Bathe but no longer include Alex Faust. The Kings Live postgame show will again be hosted by Patrick O’Neal, Jarret Stoll and Derek Armstrong.
