AFTER Governor Gwendolyn Garcia ordered the closure of Kawasan Falls last June 2 to give way to the demolition of illegal structures in the area, the famous tourist attraction in Barangay Matutinao, Badian town will finally reopen on Thursday, October 26, 2023.Garcia issued Executive Order 14 on June 2, 2023 to temporarily stop the canyoneering and other tourist activities in Kawasan Falls while the demolition was being done.
The Cebu Provincial Government announced that the canyoneering activities in the neighboring municipalities Ginatilan and Malabuyoc will also be allowed to resume.The governor met with concerned tourism stakeholders from the said municipalities last October 23 at the Capitol to finalize the general guidelines for all canyoneering activities and ecology tourism zone activities around Kawasan Falls.
