Katy running back Seth Davis plans to honor late Mississippi State coach Mike Leach by continuing his career with the Bulldogs.When Seth Davis signed his letter of intent with Mississippi State on Wednesday, it was about more than just football.Bulldogs coach Mike Leach died at age 61 on Dec. 12, a little more than a week before the start of the NCAA early signing period.
“It just motivated me more for going to Mississippi State to honor him,” Davis said. “He was one of the coaches who took a chance on me, and he believed in me, so I’m just going there to honor him, and that’s what all the other recruits are doing, too.” Following Leach’s death, Mississippi State named defensive coordinator Zach Arnett the new head coach.
Davis capped his high school career with 6,691 yards, surpassing 2015 graduate Rodney Anderson for the most all-time in a Tigers uniform. He rushed for more than 2,000 yards for a second consecutive season and was named the offensive player of the year by the Touchdown Club of Houston.
