This time, the carnage wasn’t just confined to the island, as a T. rex got aboard a ship and made its way back to San Diego.

John Hammond Was Killed By Dinosaurs In The Book John Hammond had a much clearer fate in Michael Crichton’s source material. In the original Jurassic Park novel, he is brutally killed by dinosaurs. While taking a walk and thinking of all the ways he can improve on his failed park with the next one, Hammond is startled by a T. rex’s roar and stumbles down a hill, where he’s devoured by a pack of Procompsognathus. In the adaptation, Steven Spielberg decided to let him live.
