The character featured prominently in the first two Jurassic Park movies, but he was entirely absent from Jurassic Park III before being paid homage with a memorial statue in the legacy sequel Jurassic World.
After agreeing with Dr. Alan Grant in his decision not to endorse his park at the end of the first movie, Hammond took steps to redeem himself in The Lost World. He tried to put his money to good use with efforts to preserve Isla Sorna. But this just led to another deadly disaster. This time, the carnage wasn’t just confined to the island, as a T. rex got aboard a ship and made its way back to San Diego.
John Hammond Was Killed By Dinosaurs In The Book John Hammond had a much clearer fate in Michael Crichton’s source material. In the original Jurassic Park novel, he is brutally killed by dinosaurs. While taking a walk and thinking of all the ways he can improve on his failed park with the next one, Hammond is startled by a T. rex’s roar and stumbles down a hill, where he’s devoured by a pack of Procompsognathus. In the adaptation, Steven Spielberg decided to let him live.
