"Musicians over the years have written about every part of love imaginable, it’s ins and outs, new love, old love, the feeling you get looking into your partner’s eyes, or when you kiss, that scent that reminds you of them, that photo or song," the trumpeter told of his favorite subject. "When I’m at a loss for words, I look to songs to help tell my story because they have the ability to set the mood and the power to express things in ways deeper than the words alone.
"Doesn’t get better than Stevie!" Smith said of Wonder's song. "He has written so many of the greatest songs of the 20th century. 'As,' the story of everlasting love, has been one of my favorites since I first heard it as a kid. Still to this day, every time I hear this song, it fills me with love and joy."
