The judge, Trevor McFadden, acquitted Chan of disorderly conduct in a Capitol building. He is scheduled to be sentenced in May.Federal investigators said in court papers that Chan texted an FBI agent on Jan. 8, 2021 and wrote, “Someone about to post on my behalf thru [Facebook]...I’ll be known publicly that I’ve entered Capitol. Any fallout u think I should be aware of?”

The next day, Chan talked the agent on the phone and admitted being at the Capitol on Jan. 6 with two female friends. He said he climbed over bleachers and scaffolding, but did not directly fight or otherwise confront police.
