And her husband died protecting them both.
Over the weekend, two more mass shootings occurred in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas, resulting in 29 deaths and leaving these communities forever shaken by unthinkable tragedy.
On Saturday, August 3, shoppers at a Walmart in El Paso came under fire from a 21-year-old man armed with an assault rifle who had published a manifesto full of white nationalist, anti-immigrant ideas on 8chan. Twenty people were killed, including one mother who gave her life protecting her child.
Andre Anchondo had recently made progress in his battle with drug dependence, starting a granite and stone business in El Paso. He was also nearly done building a home for his family. When the shooting started, Andrew jumped in front of Jordan, who literally shielded her son from the bullets.“From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,” Leta Jamrowski, Jordan’s sister, told the Associated Press from the waiting room of the hospital where her nephew was being treated.
“So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones. So he pretty much lived because she gave her life.”
