Joe Thornton at 42 has slightly longer hair than before and his prodigious beard has a bit more gray in it these days. But from everything that Florida Panthers interim coach Andrew Brunette said Saturday, he’s still the same Joe Thornton.
Thornton met with the media before Saturday’s game at FLA Live Arena to discuss his time with the Sharks and his transition to the Panthers. Here’s a transcript of that conversation.“As soon as I got there, I just fell in love with the place, fell in love with the people. The teammates were great. It was and it is just a great, great team, great ownership, and just good character guys.”“Yeah, they’re back.
“Patty is just bigger than life out there. Whenever you talk about the Sharks, you talk about Patrick Marleau. It just kind of goes hand in hand. Who knows what the future holds. But if I do play in that game, it’s gonna be special. It’s a special building, the Shark Tank. A lot of great memories there and we’ll see if that happens.”
