Rice athletic director Joe Karlgaard stepping down to take job in private sector
Rice athletic director Joe Karlgaard announced Tuesday he will step down Aug. 1 to take a job in the private sector.
Karlgaard, who took over the top position in the Rice athletic department in 2013, will leave Aug. 1 to become CEO of GSV Summit. Karlgaard has been part of a transformation on South Main that most recently included the Owls' impending move to the American Athletic Conference on July 1. "Since his arrival on South Main, Joe has overseen a dramatic reshaping of Rice athletics," Rice president Reginald DesRoches said.
