Cory Booker appeared on CNN on Wednesday night sounding off on Joe Biden’s recent comments surrounding segregationists, the New Jersey Democrat got a phone call—it was the former vice president.
Nor did he apologize for telling reporters outside a fundraiser on Wednesday that it was Booker, one of his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination, who needed to apologize. The two carried on a polite conversation, with the former vice president intent on talking through tensions that had flared in recent days, according to two sources familiar with the call.
But that didn’t happen.
Biden’s campaign, however, thinks the whole thing is much ado about nothing. “This is really a media issue and it’s an issue that’s going around on social media. But people are not talking about this,” said Rep.a Biden campaign co-chairman and member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “People want an elected official to get things done.
