New York Jets guard Alijah Vera-Tucker speaks to the media as the Jets open its 2023 NFL training camp on Wednesday July 19, 2023, in Florham Park, N.J.The Jets and offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker might be in the midst of a grim deja vu after Sunday afternoon’s win in Devner.
The Jets lost Vera-Tucker and running back Breece Hall within plays of each other in the second quarter of last year’s win over the Broncos in this building. And for a moment it felt as if the Jets might be facing some similar bad karma when Vera-Tucker, who has shifted from right guard to right tackle, and left tackle Mekhi Becton both left the field with injuries within plays of each other before halftime.
And Hall was smiling after a huge performance on the field where less than a year ago his standout rookie season was cut short. Hall finished with a season-high 22 carries for a season-high 177 yards in the first game since Saleh declared he was no longer on a “pitch count” as he recovers from his injury.
