New York Jets running back Breece Hall say the coaches need to get him the ball. He's not wrong.
The Jets viewed their running back room as a massive strength, led by Hall, veteran Dalvin Cook and third-year pro Michael Carter. Instead, they were a non-factor on Sunday.
But Hall isn’t wrong to insist that offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and passing game coordinator Todd Downing -- who collaborate to call plays -- need to find a way to get the backs more involved. The Cowboys were lining up all but one defender within five yards on the line of the scrimmage as early as the first drive, but Hall said that’s not an excuse for going away from the run -- especially after the Jets had a huge game on the ground against Buffalo to start the season.The offensive line obviously could have been better, but the play-calling in the run game was far too predictable -- Hall was smashed for a seven-yard loss in the backfield by Parsons on the first play of the game.
And while everyone thought that it would be on quarterback Zach Wilson after the loss of Rodgers, Hall said it wasn’t, even though Wilson finished 12-of-27 for 170 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
