The New England Patriots visit AT&T Stadium on Sunday in what will be Ezekiel Elliott’s first game against his former team.
In last week’s win over the New York Jets, Elliott led New England with 80 yards rushing on 16 carries, his highest rushing output since Nov. 24 of last season. His 14-yard burst in the second quarter was the longest run by a Patriots running back this season.Advertisement
“I know that he was one of the best teammates that I’ve had the privilege of seeing on the Cowboys,” Jones said. “For his team, he was inspirational. Inspirational before the games, his practice habits were off the charts. He just would basically practice as though almost every play were for all the marbles. He had very unique skills as a running back. And boy, he could lower that pad and lower that center of gravity.
at the beginning of the 2023 season, an area where Elliott thrived in his Cowboys tenure. But Jones doesn’t credit the current team’s lack of production to the absence of their former back.“Zeke’s unique physicalness is always nice to have,” Jones said. “But I do not think that physicalness from the running back [position] is contributing to us not getting in the end zone.”After a surprising loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Dallas offense will have a chance to get back on track this weekend.
