Local law enforcement and security forces are responding to reports of a shooting near Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The lockdown was lifted at around 11:30, about an hour and a half after JBSA initially tweeted that there was an active shooter off-base but near the area.11:34 a.m. All Clear, All Clear. Locked down areas on JBSA-Lackland will reopen and gates will return to standard operations.
South Patrol Officers are investigating a “shots fired” call off Medina Base Road outside the gate at Lackland Air Force Base. At this time, there is not an active shooter situation. Officers are continuing to investigate but there is no threat to the public.At around 10 a.m., Joint Base San Antonio issued an active shooter alert through a tweet after reports of gunshots were heard near the base in the area of Cedarhurst Drive and Ferncroft.
In the tweet, JBSA said the gunshots were heard off-base and that the base had gone under lockdown. Local law enforcement and security forces are responding, the tweet said.
