James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie is expected to be a lot different from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, but they do share one big similarity.
Superman: Legacy, James Gunn’s Superman reboot, will face a similar challenge to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Since Justice League, the DCEU’s future had been up in the air. Some of the franchise’s biggest characters were missing from the big screen, including Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman. Now, DC Studios’ new DC Universe means that the original DCEU will be rebooted after 2023, at least partially, starting with a brand-new Superman film.
Superman: Legacy Kicks Off A New DC Universe James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy will be the first movie in DC Studios’ new DC Universe. Creature Commandos, a DC animated series set in this new franchise, premiers in 2024, but it’s Superman: Legacy that kicks things off on the big screen. Superman: Legacy will have to serve as the foundation on which an entire cinematic universe involving movies and shows will be built.
