Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive clip from The Magic Flute, which lands in theaters on March 10. Hailing from first-time director Florian Sigl and veteran executive producer Roland Emmerich, this fantasy adventure film follows teenage Tim Walker as he joins a prestigious boarding school in his quest to become a singer. But one quest leads to another, and he finds himself in an alternate world of magic and mystery.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The Magic Flute also stars F. Murray Abraham as the headmaster, Dr. Longbow, who helps make Tim's days at the academy miserable. Once he crosses the mystical gateway inside the library, however, he enters the world of a Mozart opera: The Magic Flute, ruled by the Queen of the Night. There, he becomes Prince Tamino and meets characters such as Papageno and Princess Pamina .
As seen in the above clip, The Magic Flute follows the general thread of Mozart's infamous final opera except for when Tim is transported back to his daily life at the legendary Mozart All Boys Music School. There, he must deal with not only a grouchy headmaster but also the pangs of first love and the insecurity of not feeling his own singing is up to par. The film goes beyond paying homage to the great composer, as it also incorporates several renowned opera singers into its ensemble cast.
The Magic Flute is distributed by Shout! Studios. It has a runtime of 124 minutes and is not yet rated, though it's certain to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The combination of music and magic proves to be a delight whether viewers are opera lovers themselves, enjoyed the reimagining of Mozart's life in Amadeus, or are fans of musical films in general.The Magic Flute arrives in theaters on March 10.
